Del Mar Palm Care: Treatment, Fertilizer and Follow-Through

Today I treated a Canary Island date palm in Del Mar, applied palm-specific fertilizer and recorded the next recommended treatment. This is stewardship in practice.

Today, October 17, I treated a Canary Island date palm in Del Mar and applied a palm-specific fertilizer during the same visit. The treatment and the fertilizer application are separate parts of caring for that palm. Both belong in its service history.

Two jobs during one visit

I completed the palm treatment, then applied about nine pounds of PolyPlus Opti Palm fertilizer. That is the amount recorded for this particular palm, not a general application rate for other trees. Product directions, the palm and the site determine what is appropriate.

Fertilization belongs in the nutrition side of palm care. It does not establish that the palm had a nutrient deficiency, and it does not replace a pest-protection decision. Today's service record documents the work performed; it cannot yet show how the palm will respond.

The next visit belongs in the record, too

I recorded the completed treatment and fertilizer application and included the next recommended treatment date on the customer's invoice. This was a one-time service visit, not an annual-plan enrollment. A recommended return date gives the owner a next step without pretending that another appointment has already been booked.

That is what I mean by stewardship in everyday work: carry out the agreed care, keep the history together and make the next decision understandable. When a palm needs another look, the previous service should be something we can refer to.

What this visit demonstrates

A single visit can connect treatment, palm-specific nutrition and a written follow-up recommendation. It is a small, practical example of SDPP's stewardship model. It is not a before-and-after recovery claim, a confirmed pest diagnosis or a guarantee that treatment will prevent every loss.

See the Del Mar treatment and fertilization capability case for the scope of work and the limits of this record.
